Street Etiquette - Subway Etiquette: NYC [Brooklyn]

This is some grade A photography. The subtle vignetting and mixture of washed out shades and vibrant tones.

Cinematic

I think the most intriguing thing about the way POV films are shot and cut is the way that the audience doesn’t see what the character is doing until the character takes the audiences and actually shows them.

When the camera follows someone through a doorway and to the shed in the back yard, we don’t know what the character wants, so for a few split seconds it allows us to imagine all the possibilities.

I wish Directors didn’t cut to inside the shed where the  2 gallon gas tank was the primary object featured in the frame, just before the character gets there. That shot immediately tells us what the character wants and then we can deduct what happens next.

Now that I’ve said this, I realized that the cut and composition have a point, but it would intrigue me to see a more creative way that allows us the viewer to let our imaginations run away with the story, then get pulled back into the actual plot.

I love to give the audience more credit, and allow them to be another tool for the story itself. It gives them liberties that are seldom there in certain arts.
